Can you reach the hotel with any type of vehicle?
What is the road like? Yes, you can reach the hotel with any car, and a 4×4 vehicle is not necessary. From the main road, it’s 1.8 km on a consolidated road that is passable even in rainy conditions.
I am traveling by car, is parking available?
Yes, we have secure parking at the hotel.
Do you have a pool?
Yes, we have a small pool (4 x 2.5 m). The pool is available from 10 am to 6 pm.
Do you have a Jacuzzi?
The Hemingway Tent features a jacuzzi pool, while the Kipling Tent offers a charming vintage-style bathtub with a beautiful jungle view.
Do you offer organized activities?
Yes, we offer activities such as visits to the indigenous territory, chocolate tours, rafting on the Pacuare River, and fly fishing. For more detailed information, please email us at [email protected]
What is included in the accommodation?
Accommodation includes breakfast if it is included in the rate, access to the pool, and use of the yoga platform.
Are there beaches nearby? Which is the nearest beach?
Yes. We are just 1.8 km (1.1 miles) from Cocles Beach, ideally located between Cahuita National Park and the Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge, making it easy to explore the area’s best beaches and attractions.

How long do you recommend staying?
We recommend staying at least 4–5 nights. This will give you enough time to relax, enjoy our beaches, participate in activities, and experience glamping.
Do you accept children?
Is it a family-friendly place? Yes, we accept children. The glamping experience in the jungle is wonderful for children, especially those over 6 years old. However, there are certain potential dangers due to the high platforms and walking off the trails. If you have any specific questions or concerns, feel free to ask.
Are you pet-friendly?
Yes! We welcome pets with some restrictions. A maximum of 2 small dogs or 1 large dog is allowed. Please note that pets are only permitted in our tents and houses, not in the rooms. For our complete pet policy and regulations, please contact us at [email protected]
Do you cater to vegans, celiac, or lactose-intolerant guests?
Yes, absolutely! We are happy to accommodate vegan, gluten-free, and lactose-free diets. Our homemade breakfast includes fresh tropical fruits, homemade breads and cakes, and a savory dish with eggs cooked to your preference. Is it suitable for people in wheelchairs or with reduced mobility?
Unfortunately, it is not suitable. There are many stairs and heights that make access difficult. We are working to improve accessibility and make it possible in the future.
Is there Wi-Fi in the rooms and common areas of the hotel?
Yes, there is fiber-optic Wi-Fi with a speed of 200 Mbps in all units and in the hotel’s common areas, and it is free to use.
Is it necessary to book in advance?
Yes, it is 100% recommended to book in advance to secure your space, especially during the high season months.
What types of cards do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
What other payment methods do you accept?
In addition to credit cards, we accept bank transfers in euros, US dollars, and Costa Rican colones, as well as PayPal and SINPE Móvil (for Costa Rican residents).
What are the reception hours?
The reception is open from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
What is the latest check-in time?
Although the reception closes at 9:00 p.m., if you arrive after that time, please let us know, and we will arrange to receive you.
During check-in, do I need to present the same credit card I used to pay?
Yes. For security purposes, you will need to present the same credit card used to make the reservation in order to validate the payment. Any remaining balance can be paid at check-in or check-out using your preferred payment method.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is at 3:00 p.m., and check-out is at 11:00 a.m.
What are the cancellation policies?
Guests who cancel with 15 days’ notice will receive a full refund of the amount paid. For cancellations made 14 to 8 days in advance, a 50% refund will be given, and cancellations made with 7 days’ notice will not receive a refund. Please note that the cancellation policies do not apply to “Non-refundable” rates, and in such cases, there will be no refund for cancellations.

Do you have a restaurant?
We do not have a full-service restaurant. However, a generous homemade breakfast is included, featuring fresh tropical fruits, homemade breads and cakes, eggs cooked to your preference, and other delicious specialties.
With advance reservation, our chef can also prepare lunch and dinner. For a quick meal, we offer made-to-order sandwiches and authentic Italian piadinas.
If you prefer to dine out, we are happy to recommend some of the best restaurants within 5 minutes of the hotel, offering Caribbean, Italian, international, fusion, sushi, Indian, Argentine, and many other cuisines.
Is tap water safe to drink?
Yes, the water at Colina Secreta is safe to drink. Make sure to bring your refillable bottle, as we are proud to be a single-use plastic-free hotel.
What is included in the room?
The Birds Room is an elegant and exclusive accommodation with a private open terrace offering a beautiful view of the jungle.
The room includes air conditioning, a ceiling fan, mosquito nets, a private bathroom with hot water, a safety deposit box, and daily housekeeping. Towels are changed upon request, and bed linens are changed every two days. A hairdryer is available upon request.
What is included in the houses?
Our houses include daily housekeeping, with towels changed upon request and bed linens changed every two days. Both houses are equipped with mosquito nets, a private bathroom with hot water, a safety deposit box, and a hairdryer available upon request.
Belvedere House features air conditioning and a private terrace with comfortable lounge seating, while Casa Picasso is equipped with a ceiling fan.
What is included in the glamping tents?
Our glamping tents include daily housekeeping, with towels changed upon request and bed linens changed every two days. All units are equipped with mosquito nets, a ceiling fan, a safety deposit box, a hairdryer available upon request, and a private bathroom with hot water, a shower and/or bathtub.
They also feature a terrace with hammocks and armchairs, except for the Van Gogh Atelier, which does not have a hammock.
The Hemingway, Molina Campos, Kipling, Blixen, and Frida glamping tents also have a kitchen equipped with the essentials for cooking, as well as coffee, tea, sugar, and oil.
What is the electricity and voltage at the hotel?
Costa Rica uses 110V electricity with standard US-style outlets: Type A (2 flat prongs) and Type B (2 flat prongs + 1 round grounding prong). If needed, we also sell plug adapters for US$5 each at reception.
Do you offer laundry service?
Yes, we offer next-day laundry service using biodegradable and environmentally friendly products.
Is smoking allowed?
According to Costa Rican Law 9028, smoking is prohibited throughout the property, including rooms, tents, houses, and outdoor areas. This applies to tobacco, marijuana, vaping, and other smoking products.
Are there safes in the rooms?
Yes, there is a safety deposit box in each accommodation, and there is no additional charge for its use.
How is the weather?
The climate in Puerto Viejo, Limón, is warm and humid tropical, with average temperatures ranging from 24–32°C. Rainfall occurs mainly at night, and nighttime temperatures are pleasant.
What animals will I see? How close will I be to wildlife?
Colina Secreta is located within a 6-acre private nature reserve, where wildlife is all around you. We have two ponds that attract many frogs and birds, allowing you to observe nature very close to your accommodation. You may see toucans, sloths, howler monkeys, white-faced monkeys, iguanas, green and black frogs, and many other species.
Are the glamping tents safe with so much wildlife around?
Absolutely. It is a safe and highly recommended experience. Monkeys do not usually come close to the tents.
Are there any dangerous animals?
Colina Secreta is a very safe place to enjoy nature. We recommend a few simple precautions: never touch wildlife, stay on designated trails, and use a flashlight when walking at night.
Are there mosquitoes at the hotel?
Mosquitoes are not a major issue at Colina Secreta. We are located on a hill with no stagnant water, and there is no malaria in this area. Our natural environment, including bats that feed on insects, helps maintain balance. All tents and rooms have mosquito nets and bed nets for added comfort.
What happens if I have a medical emergency?
We have a 24-hour emergency medical and ambulance service available. If needed, we can arrange transportation to Limón or San José, including air transfer for urgent cases.
Are there medical facilities nearby?
Yes. There are medical clinics and pharmacies in Puerto Viejo, about 5 km from Colina Secreta. Our team will assist you if you need medical support.
Do you need to know about any special requirements before my stay?
Yes, please inform us in advance about any mobility limitations, heart conditions, allergies, or dietary requirements. We are happy to adapt and provide the best possible assistance.
